CBSE Grading System for Class 10
CBSE uses a grading system for Class 10 students. Marks are converted into grades as follows

There is no overall pass or fail declaration in Class 10. Students must pass individually in each subject.
CBSE Class 12 Evaluation System
Unlike Class 10 Class 12 results are declared in terms of marks and percentages. Students need to score at least 33 percent in each subject (theory and practical combined) to pass.
Those who fail in one or two subjects can appear for the compartment exam.
What If You Fail in One Subject
CBSE gives students a chance to improve their result through the compartment exam. This exam is usually held in July.
Students can appear again in the subject they failed and improve their performance. The new result replaces the old one.
Revaluation or Rechecking Process
If you are not satisfied with your marks you can apply for rechecking or revaluation. CBSE opens this process within a few days after the result announcement.
- First students can apply for photocopy of answer sheet
- Then they can apply for revaluation of specific questions
- There is a small application fee
